Carrie Lynne Koval was born on November 28, 1962 in New Eagle, Pennsylvania.

Carrie married John Allen Trax Jr. on September 26, 1981 in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. John was born March 8, 1957 at the Philadelphia Navy base in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

They have two children John and Scott.

Carrie graduated from Ringgold High School class of 1980. She started working on Trax Farms at the age of 13 picking strawberries working there all through school and meeting her future husband John in 1979 at the start of her senior year in high school. John graduated from Ringgold High School class of 1975 and went to Penn State in state college graduating in 1979 with a degree in Horticulture.

After high school Carrie continued to work at Trax Farms in the produce and greenhouses. John and Carrie married in September 1981 and started building their first Passive Solar house on the farm. The following November in 1982 they had their first son John. Carrie wanting to continue working bought her son a week after he was born to work with her and she started to run the production greenhouse on the farm and growing the flowers that they sold at the retail location. Two and a half years later their second son Scott was born and he joined his brother and mom at work in the greenhouses. Carrie worked many years growing flowers with the boys grow up along side of her. When the boys got older and the farm started to add to their retail store she starting doing the marketing, events and merchandising for Trax Farms.

Carrie worked many years side by side with her husband and kids at the farm and growing the business to what it is today. In 2005 Carrie and John were ready for their next chapter in life and took a job on the west coast in Oregon. They moved to Zigzag, Oregon which is in the foothills of Mt. Hood in November of 2005 and work together running the Northwest Nursery Buyers Association a buying coop for garden centers in the Pacific Northwest. Living in on the Sandy River in a national forest made weekends filled with many hikes and exploring the natural beauty of the area. John and Carrie both started to do photography as a hobby that eventually turn into a side business with John selling his art at local art shows and online at www.zigzagmtart.com and Carrie starting a food blog www.freshfromoregon.com. They get to travel for their job and have seen some of the wonderful places around the Pacific Northwest and eventually bought an RV to enjoy traveling more.

After living on the mountain for 14 years they started the next and hopefully final chapter to their life and in 2019 moved to Everson, Washington to be near their youngest son. After 6 months of designing they broke ground in July of 2019 on their dream home, 9 months later in March 2020 they moved into their award winning Net-Zero Green built Modern Farmhouse. Carrie and John planted a 20 tree orchard and large garden and plan to enjoy their new homestead. Carrie has her dream kitchen were she enjoys cooking and baking and hopes to start a new blog “New Western Homestead” and share her knowledge of canning, gardening and sewing. John has his dream wood working shop and plans to build things for around the house and enjoy working in his orchard and garden. They both continue to work running the Northwest Nursery Buyers coop from their home office.
